3) SKYWARN Training Net

Depending on the timing of today’s weather, the scheduled SKYWARN Training Net may be canceled due to severe weather. Please stay tuned to the Winnebago County SKYWARN Facebook Group or check your email for updates.

4) We Need YOU!

Winnebago County SKYWARN is made up of amateur radio operators, GMRS radio users, and severe-weather enthusiasts who use radio communications to provide a valuable public service through weather spotting and reporting.

On severe weather days when the SKYWARN Net is active, please monitor the net and remember to check in and out. Your reports help provide critical real-time information to the National Weather Service in Chicago.

Attached is a helpful reminder of the reporting criteria and the types of severe weather reports the National Weather Service is looking for.

Keep your eyes on the sky this afternoon and make sure you have multiple ways to receive weather warnings and alerts.

Thank you for your support and participation!

And remember to stay safe.
